The Israeli-Palestinian conflict began as a territorial dispute, however, in the eyes of the general public and through the tinted lens of mass media, it has morphed into a religious war of injustice. This injustice spreads like a virus into the politics of the United States and is translated into threats and general unrest in public settings; most notably on college campuses. Religious intolerance is then sparked through symbols and acts of faith, thereby causing some Jewish students to feel uneasy in expressing their religion during a time that is heralded as being all inclusive and supportive. Hate rallies that spread words of intolerance and disgust are becoming more and more frequent and the hypocrisy of peace groups is overwhelming. We as Americans support the underdog, but we are swayed by the pathos that grips the social norm, ignoring facts that undermine our noble pursuits and allowing violence and cruelty to continue under the guise of a necessary evil. This paper shakes the restraints of the status quo and represents what it truly means to be a Jewish college student in 2015.
