New technologies raise new ethical questions that require guidance. Every ethical system evaluates technological advances against the criteria of its moral code. In Jewish tradition, that touchstone is halachah, the corpus of Jewish law and ethics. But how is the halachah applied to novel technologies that our ancestors could not even have imagined? In this session, Professor Steven Resnicoff will present an outline of the halachic issues raised by cloning, and discuss how contemporary experts in halachah have analyzed the related questions.
