Rabbi Alter Metzger has a Doctorate in Guidance from Colombia University and is a professor of Jewish Studies at Stern College (Yeshiva University). He has written widely on Chasidic Thought and History. Rabbi Metzger is a sought after lecturer and teacher. He served on a team of simultaneous translators in the farbrengens (gatherings) of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson for 18 years.  

Rabbi Metzger is the author of The Heroic Struggle (Kehos) and Chassidic Perspective: A Festival Anthology (Kehos).
