The Redemption of the Firstborn traces its origin to the times of the Torah, and this important mitzvah remains faithfully observed to this day. With advances in medicine in the 21st century, a number of new questions have arisen as to how to apply and properly observe this mitzvah. Topics for our discussion will include gender selection, the Kohen gene, fetal surgery, ectogenesis, artificial reproductive seed and other technologies that all impact on the performance of just one mitzvah.
